As Chief Executive Officer, I administer and manage all KSC activities, including, but not limited to:a) Responsibility for all KSC activities, including but not limited to exhibitions, digital theater films and educational programs, and the marketing and promotion of such activities. Ensure that KSC programs and activities meet the highest creative, technical, and educational standards.b) Ensure that the KSC continues to move forward in alignment with agreed-upon long-range strategic plans so that the KSC will prosper, grow, and enrich the lives of its patrons. As needed, formulate for approval by the Board a strategic plan for the operation, funding, and development of the KSC.c) Develop and submit an annual budget to the Board for approval. Oversee all expenditures in accordance with the approved budget, using reasonable judgment in the best interests of the KSC.d) Hire and discharge all KSC personnel and contract employees and services, and determine their duties, responsibilities, salaries. e) Oversee selection and acquisition of any collections. Make recommendations to the Board for the disposal of collections in accordance with KSC Collections Policy.f) Work closely with the Board and their designated committees to raise funds for KSC from the local community and other sources. Plan and oversee the development of grant applications and other formal solicitations of funds from all sources, including individuals, business enterprises, private foundations and government agencies.g) Further the visibility of KSC both locally, regionally, and nationally by participating, and taking a leadership role wherever feasible, in the activities of professional, civil, and charitable organizations whose interests are compatible with KSC’s mission and long-range plan.h) Ensure that KSC maintains the professional standards of the Association of Science Technology-Centers.

As Chief Operating Officer, I was the second highest ranking position at Kentucky Science Center, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. I was responsible for operationalizing strategy and tactical direction; Overseeing overall operations and internal processes; Participating in institutional strategy and planning, budget development, and program supervision; Advising on financial decision making and monitoring financial performance; and relationship management including nurturing a performance culture among a group of diverse, talented individuals. The position provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that KSC has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow and to ensure financial sustainability, strength, and operating efficiency.

Designated the “State Science Center of Kentucky” by the Kentucky General Assembly, the Kentucky Science Center features interactive exhibits and engaging programs for children, families and adults. The Kentucky Science Center is committed to growing a scientifically literate community that investigates, questions, and challenges.

Led department to ensure internal audit needs for Local Government were met. Type of audit work performed included operational, internal controls, pre-implementation systems review, computer access and security, performance, and fraud. Responsibilities included planning and allocating resources for projects; consulting with clients regarding various issues; reporting to elected officials; and marketing audit services to clients. Position required keeping abreast of current audit industry practices in order to develop and implement new value-added client services, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Also served as liaison to City’s Ethics Commission, which required a thorough knowledge of the City’s Code of Ethics.
