I am responsible for developing mechanical designs and providing engineering support for the sustaining, VAVE, and quality improvement of ISC current and legacy products. I also support the investigation and analysis of product failures and performance issues.

I mainly worked in the service department diagnosing and refurbishing previously used single and multi-gas monitors. I was held to the highest standards while repairing this equipment because Industrial Scientific's customers stake their lives on my instruments working correctly every time they turn it on. I worked in the Process Engineering department for a temporary assignment. Along with daily process engineering tasks, I and created standardized data analysis tools in Microsoft Excel VBA to analyze and measure the manufacturing quality data in real-time. I also created and performed a standardized time-study process. I also participated in continuous improvement (kaizen) by being involved in the daily meetings and working to improve my own process and efficiency while also doing so for the team. Lastly, I assisted in the end-stages of development of one-piece-flow lines by piloting them and suggesting improvements.

I was in charge of multiple projects from beginning to end. My main project was to create a solution to the large money loss through lost product in the boxing process. I went through root-cause analysis and eventually found that cleanliness around the floor scales was the main issue. Therefore I changed how the floor scales were placed to make cleaning under the scales easier and to ultimately help prevent product build up from affecting the scales.I also researched and purchased cleaning product for dust control in the plant, as well as writing detailed work instructions for the equipment, along with some other smaller projects.

Worked extensively with AutoCAD to model the process cooling water piping throughout the entire plant. This included measuring every pipe section, recording all the pipe sizes and material, and finding and recording the information of the heat exchangers, motors, and gearboxes in use. I also used AutoCAD to update material flow charts and create drawings of the many dies we had in inventory.
