- Architected service and led team of four SDEs to provide APIs to allow members of the AWS Pinpoint SMS Voice team to programmatically send and receive email-based support cases from downstream vendors. - Unblocked the team from scaling phone number registration availability to all countries around the world by removing all manual processes in the existing phone number registration process.- Introduced visibility and durability of communications as the system uses Amazon’s internal ticketing system to record all actions.- Currently supports hundreds of cases a day.- Designed and implemented a microservice to asynchronously ingest and combine DLRs as part of a larger project to implement SMPP text message sending. - SMS messages that customers send are split into several parts upon sending, and generate a delivery receipt (DLR) for each part.- Processes DLRs for millions of SMS messages a day with bursts of 1000+ TPS without any issues.- Implemented suite of public self service APIs to allow customers to register toll free numbers to continue sending SMS messages to the US in response to increased requirements from SMS carriers and government bodies that threatened to completely block unregistered traffic. - Using the APIs, 98% of customers sending non-negligible volume obtained approved registrations without any interruptions in their sending (hundreds of thousands of messages per day).

- Built an internal tool to allow engineers to both manually and programatically test SMS message delivery to carriers around the world. - Added the ability for the service team to detect issues proactively rather than reactively, reducing time to incident detection, notification, and resolution by 50%.- Decreased costs by millions of dollars per month by decreasing the time necessary to ramp up traffic on a new route from weeks to days.- Implemented a microservice to provide daily reports from phone number carriers about deactivated phone numbers to customers via public s3 buckets. - Customers can ingest the report to trim the list of numbers they send to to reduce redundant sends and optimize cost. Serves about one hundred customers a day.

- Implemented architecture to provide persistent, fault tolerant storage of user preferences (display settings) on the AWS Pinpoint console. - Exposed new Java API in the back-end to send and validate preferences between client, server, and database. - Added Redux/React architecture in JavaScript on the front-end to store, get, and set preferences as well as migrate existing ones for a seamless transition to the new architecture. Also implemented caching and bulk fetching of preferences to reduce overall latency, saving on average 200ms per preference cached.
