Terrorism Analyst And National Security Policy Advisor
CurrentSince 2009, in addition to my work with high-profile think tanks and private national security consultancies, I have independently engaged in a wide array of activities in support of counterterrorism missions and national security policy formulation. These activities have included research tracking terrorists’ activities (online and off), threat identification and reporting, support to policymakers’ investigations focused on the issue of state sponsorship of terrorism, domestic and foreign intelligence source cultivation, as well as growing the public's understanding of the threat environment through media engagements and unclassified publications. During this time, I have served as an expert to several Congressional entities working to help counter threats posed by Salafi-Jihadist groups like al-Qa’ida and Islamic State, and as a source for major news media organizations like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, BBC, CBC, 9 News Australia, and France 24. I have also provided expert testimony before the United States Senate, and served as a speaker and panelist during government and international governmental bodies' conferences, including serving as the keynote speaker for a Global Coalition to Counter Daesh (ISIS) counterterrorism practitioner's conference hosted at the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Headquarters (London, March 2017), and as a speaker and panelist during the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's 19th annual Transatlantic Parliamentary Conference (Washington, DC, December 2019).
