These new hydraulic mining shovels are currently operating in 3 continents and at sea.• Directs teams of internal and external resources focused on bill of material restructure, investigation, and drawing conversion of legacy designs from multiple shovel platforms into new corporate information systems. Design role involved new product introduction, product and prototype development, project planning and leadership, systems integration, and technical document releasing. • Formalized hydraulic systems utilizing high pressure proportional poppet valves for main attachment functions that performed better and cost less than traditional spool valves of comparable size. Supported the onsite construction of the largest and most complicated system in mobile hydraulics.• Collaborated with software engineers using D-Space controllers for rapid prototyping of hydraulic pump allocation, speed control and active dampening, and electronic cylinder snubbing. Each successfully validated and introduced as firsts in the industry.• Instrumental in a hydraulic reservoir and cooling system design unmatched on competitive mining shovels through the use of FEA and CFD analysis. Innovative designs regarding internal baffling for cooling, de-aeration, and contamination settling improved component life and reliability.
Senior Engineer - Product Development
Leveraged experience at the Peoria Proving Grounds to establish a new Test Group for the Forest Products facility which saved operational costs and decreased projects cycles by 50%. Led a team that analyzes, tests, and develops multi-million dollar projects regarding various forest industry equipment.
