About Michael Strite
During my time attaining two degrees as a double major in Journalism and Business Administration at the University of Oregon, I dedicated myself to sports and esports storytelling through student programs like DuckTV and KWVA. As a student reporter for DuckTV Sports, I’ve covered eleven different Oregon athletic sports teams, attended the 2020 Pac-12 Men’s Basketball tournament in Las Vegas, and covered both the 2019 and 2020 Pac-12 Football Championship game.After excelling as a reporter, I was promoted to DuckTV Sports Producer, where I managed a team of 25 student reporters, and collaborated on key decisions with my other producers. As a DuckTV Sports Producer, I successfully doubled the amount of student reporters who could cover Oregon Football games every year, and organized the first road football game coverages in DuckTV Sports history. In addition to expanding opportunities, I cherished my role as a teacher developing future sports reporters and pushing for the highest quality content we could produce.My next step in growing the DuckTV program was launching and growing DuckTV Esports, the nation’s first independent media outlet dedicated to covering university esports on campus. I grew DuckTV Esports into a team of 15 student reporters with varying levels of esports backgrounds. Together we produced podcasts, feature stories, and live streams on six different esports. After two years as a DuckTV Esports Producer, I’m currently preparing my successors to continue to expand the program as collegiate esports grows rapidly.I partnered with KWVA Sports to be the official play-by-play voice of Thurston high school football, and broadcasted Oregon Volleyball and Softball. I have experience managing and trying to grow three different social media presences (DuckTVSports, DuckTVEsports, and KWVASports) in addition to keeping my own Twitter active (@mstrite61).My journalism degree from the University of Oregon has allowed me to spend years mastering storytelling. I’ve helped tell visual, audio, and written stories. I have experience creating video content and producing live broadcasts from every different step of the process. This combines with a Business Administration degree that gives me experience in every aspect of business, from accounting, to advertising, to public relations, to marketing, to operations, to sales, and management. I’m excited to ask more questions about how both of my degrees along with my professional experience make me a great fit for your team.
