Warren Buffet once said in an interview that "Accounting is the language of business.". This is what sparked my interest in Accountancy.After going through a three-year diploma in Accountancy, I am glad to say that my passion for Accounting has not wavered. My experiences at Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Accountancy course have equipped me with many necessary skills from the various modules such as Financial Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, Business Statistics, and Economics. These skills will be further expanded and reinforced with my studies at SIT.Apart from my studies, I also have some experience working in the Accounting industry. Towards the end of my diploma programme, I was very fortunate to be accepted into DBS Bank as a Corporate Tax intern. This 6 months internship really gave me a lot of insight into what the industry is like and what the expectations are. I have also worked as a tutor, tutoring students in English, Mathematics, and Science. Tutoring has really allowed me to train my communication skills, which is a crucial skill to have as an Accountant. I had to find ways to effectively and clearly convey various concepts to students who may not have knowledge of the said topic. Together with the Business Communications module taught at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I am very confident when it comes to having to present to groups of people.After my tertiary studies, I wish to continue pursuing my career in the Accounting industry. I am eager to gain more knowledge in other areas of Accounting such as Financial Accounting and Auditing.
