From the design of large bridges right down to the permitting of the smallest stream crossing, CME Associates is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm with both large and small scale expertise. On top of design services, CME has experience in environmental testing and engineering, surveying and site design, marketing, construction inspection, and providing assistance with CT's crumbling foundations. CME's Community Development team is engaged in a variety of large and small scale planning projects which provide clients support with: land use analysis, community visioning, specific project development, permitting and implementation. Our team also provides support to a number of CT municipalities as consultant Planners, Zoning Officers, and Wetlands Agents. We have assisted in the development and update of local Plans of Conservation and Development, Affordable Housing plans, and have carried out planning studies of ranging scopes from parking studies, Town Center redevelopment analyses and historic buildings reuse strategies.

Under the general administrative supervision and direction of the Town Planner, the Zoning Enforcement Officer/Assistant Town Planner assists in all activities of the Department, including but not limited to: zoning permits, zoning enforcement, blight enforcement, plan review, drafting amendments to zoning and subdivision regulations, and serving as staff to the Zoning Board of Appeals, with an emphasis on zoning and blight enforcement. •Investigates, responds to and resolves alleged zoning violations. Prepares Cease and Desist Orders, Notices of Violation, and other written correspondence to property owners and their agents regarding zoning violations. Works with the Town Attorney and appears in court as needed to support enforcement procedures.•Investigates, documents, and resolves alleged blight violations as directed. Prepares Notices of Violation Warning Letters, Blighted Premises Citation Letters, and other written correspondence to property owners and their agents regarding blight violations. Works with the Town Attorney and appears in court as needed to support enforcement procedures.•Issues zoning permits. Reviews maps, surveys and building plans in connection with issuing zoning permits.•Performs inspections to determine compliance with Cease and Desist orders.•Performs inspections of residential and commercial projects to determine compliance with TPZ conditions of approval, site plan approval and subdivision approval.•Issues Certificates of Zoning Compliance for residential and commercial projects.•Assists the public at the front counter with land use inquiries as well as application procedures and submittals.•Provides administrative and technical support to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Attends monthly meetings of the Zoning Board of Appeals.• Member of the Newington Safe Homes Task Force

Planning and Community Development Intern. Projects included creating an open space parcel inventory, researching properties in the land records, preparing a Farmington River Protection Overlay project by cataloging changes in the tree line along the bank of the Farmington River, working to create a unique parcel identification system to be used with the implementation of GIS, Monitored local business’ compliance with Town regulations.

Economic Development Associate in the Planning and Zoning Department. Job Responsibilities included assisting with the creation of a town center park, facilitated commercial development, assisting with land use applications, interdepartmental collaboration on land use issues, amending zoning regulations and contributing to a streetscape revitalization project in the downtown district.
