Responsibilities include:• Setting and control of the departmental expenditure and staffing budget including thecreation of revenue generating opportunities.• Overseeing an annual calendar of programs in accordance with the Museums strategic directionsand the follow through of individual project management plans for each program. Programs include school holidays, theatre performances, science shows, workshops, birthday parties, family components of the Sydney Design and Ultimo Science Festivals, Indigenous programs (NAIDOC & Reconciliation weeks, Celebratory weeks (History, Heritage, National Science Week), access programs such as sensory tours for vision impaired, musical performances, community events (Chinese New Year, Steamfest), exhibition specific programming and downloadable craft & science activities on the play website. 2012 achieved the highest winter school holiday visitation since 2003 with 39,131 visitors. • Management of the Play at Powerhouse brand across the Museum including the Zoe & Cogsmascot characters and the play.powerhousemuseum.com website. The website attracted 218,777 visitors in the 12/13 financial year. It was redesigned and relaunched in September 2012 and received a Highly Commended Award at the 2013 Museum’s Australia Multimedia and Publishing Design Awards (MAPDA) in the website category.• Fostering partnerships with external organisations in the co-production of programs and resources. - Sydney Brickshow with Sydney Lego Users Group attracting over 9,642 visitors over a weekend. - Composer in Residence with Sydney Children’s Choir resulting in 3 object inspired compositions• Represent the family & community audience needs on Museum cross-departmental teams.
