About Michael Smith, Ph.D.

I work with individuals, couples, adolescents (14 and up), and families. My style/approach is unique, and my background lends itself well to supporting individuals who seek direction because of difficult emotions. I have extensive experience working with the effects of stress ans trauma. I also provide support to those who are struggling with grief and loss. I offer a warm and compassionate approach that encourages exploration. I seek to help clients find clarity and understanding of the problematic and confusing areas of life. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches, but most often utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients develop the tools needed to experience those highly sought after "aha" moments.
