In Christchurch I started as a C programmer, spent time working on early GIS applications, and eventually led a group of around 40 people that delivered mobile and desktop software to land surveyors all over the world. Our projects were complex, integrating hardware and software developed by teams in Sweden, Germany, Sunnyvale Ca., and Colorado.
