Worked with GSK China Pharmaceutical business to tune Oracle DW ETL (extract, transform, and load) processes to effectively and completely refresh data within the batch window nightly, delivering daily updates for sales, syndicated third-party data, and CRM data. Advised GSK Japan Pharmaceuticals business on selection of a high-end enterprise DW appliance for sales and marketing that enabled cost-effective consolidation of all related BI systems onto one platform. Delivered $50M in cost avoidance for R&D by recommending that R&D and NA Pharmaceuticals organization share the NA Pharmaceuticals enterprise DW platform. Laid groundwork for a global GSK and SAS licensing agreement projected to save $1M+ annually by combining SAS licenses from 3+ GSK divisions. Formulated architecture and strategy for an enterprise DW and MDM platform to support entire GSK data ecosystem, including ERP, CRM, HCM (human capital management), R&D, clinical trials, manufacturing, and supply chain BI and analytics applications. Established joint NA Pharmaceuticals and R&D enterprise DW, MDM, and new QlikView BI tool service as the foundation of the architecture and strategy.

Transformed a system of 15 disparate sales and marketing DM applications into a single enterprise data warehouse to fully support the U.S. pharmaceutical business end-to-end, including sales, marketing, and financial business processes—won 2006 U.S. Pharmaceuticals “Fearless Award”. Enabled a 15-employee reduction in U.S. Pharmaceuticals IT staff that saved $2.2M+ annually. Leveraged new DW platform associated with this enterprise DW to redesign the U.S. Pharmaceuticals’ process for planning, aligning, managing, and compensating their 9,000-member sales force.Designed and played a key role in rolling out a new alignment system that expedited the entire planning, management, and compensation cycle for all sales forces, extending decision-making time while enabling earlier delivery of analytic and operational data.Led initiative to switch DW from Oracle to Teradata, collaborating with industry expert Richard Winter. Recommended/secured management approval to transition organization from proprietary BI databases (IRI, Express, Comshare, and Cognos) to a relational DW with star schema database designs—enabled consistent and coherent storage of sales and marketing data. Collaborated with industry expert Ralph Kimball and led design of the new relational DW. Included payor data in the relational DW to allow managed care and account-based sales forces to better influence insurance companies and government payors such as Medicaid and Medicare.Led effort to include prescriber data in the relational DW, enabling advanced analytics and data mining of syndicated prescription and CRM data to identify new business opportunities.
