With a passion for the advancement of queer and trans health care, I write issue briefs, action alerts, fact sheets, articles, and other materials through a racial justice and health equity lens. I work closely with our federal campaign team to facilitate timely communications to partners related to key policy issues and developments. So far, my topic areas have included gender-affirming health care, LGBTQ+ health care access, Essential Health Benefits, and coverage of no-cost preventive health care services.

Provided administrative support for the Director of Strategic Policy, Director of Policy and Partnerships, and Deputy Director at Community Catalyst. I coordinated travel logistics, processed invoices, managed busy calendars with multiple priorities, produced reports in Salesforce, and logged interactions with congressional offices in the company's CRM. Along with these logistical responsibilities, I analyzed legislation, regulation and other technical documents in order to draft policy memos for both internal and external audiences - including foundations, board of directors, and government officials.

Under Ryan White funding, I worked with patients to identify their individual goals regarding their overall health, providing both logistical and administrative support to link patient's to community based services and public health programs. I would help patient's enroll in health insurance coverage, help them complete and submit eligibility paperwork, facilitate communication between patients and their medical teams, and provide emotional support as people navigated complicated systems. This work highlighted how our current health care system falls extremely short of meeting everyone's health care needs and drove me to pivot my career toward policy and advocacy.

I provided medical case management and public health education in a variety of settings. I supplied harm reduction education and sterile injection equipment directly in community settings and when requested by our clients, I directly supported admission to substance use disorder treatment. I also provided insight to advocacy organizations in New York seeking additional support and policy advancements to support people who use drugs. This programs innovative approach to harm reduction continues to inform my work in policy as I seek out community-based solutions and ensure policies include the necessary financial backing for workforce and program development.

Engaged clients with the syringe exchange program and conducted outreach in the local community. Operated within a harm reduction framework to provide clients with valuable information regarding safer injection, HIV/Hepatitis C prevention, and overdose prevention.
