It enables them to adopt new behaviors, increase self esteem, goal accomplishment etc. Subsconscious mind is not attached to all the noise of conscious mind.The mind is an obedient servant all it can do is what the owner tells it. EFT/TFT Energy Psychology uses acupressure to help the person release their attachment to the hurt, anger, sad, pain attachments in the past. It is our thought field energy that is brought to therapy not the actual event the person is thinking of. The work is fast and very efficient. CBT Cognitive Behavioral Therapy basically helps the person identify, challenge and then be in a position to change negative self defeating beliefs. Beliefs dictate feelings and behaviors. Grief Work helps people notice what is left unsaid (their attachments) say what is to be said then say goodby to the pain of the past enabling them to have true choose NOW about how they want to relate to who or what is no longer in their lives. Very difficult work but exceedingly rewarding. Massage, Reiki, Touch for Health, Healing Touch, Pranic Healing are all processes to help people release or let go of pain, stress, tension, associated with physical or emotional issues. I have been treating the disease of addiction (alcohol, drug, sexual, co-dependency, eating disorder, work addiction, pathological gambling, nicotine addiction, compulsive spending, eating disorder) concurrently, as Stanton Peele says "the most common treatment for addiction is addiction" so why not treat the cause of the disorder first. As Terry Kellogg who wrote "Broken Toys Broken Dreams" taught me in the 1980" if one treats the cause the need to medicate in other ways disappears. I have been working with survivors of incest, abuse, trauma, war, terrorism, grievers (people who are sufffering from both death and non-death related loss) as underlying problems most addicts have in a beautiful outpatient setting. I refer to support groups before, during and after therapy, I support 12 step programs (1,500 meetings a week in Houston), Women for Sobriety (many online groups), SMART Recovery ( Monday & Tuesday nights) and Rational Recovery (online meetings), Church or wherever the client demonstrates they get the most support. If it appears someone would benefit from a halfway house or interacting with a Recovery Coach I will make recommendations. As I am a holistic healthcare practitioner and I also offer hypnosis, TFT/EFT/TAT/EMDR Energry Psychology, Therapeutic Massage, Reiki III, Healing Touch, Touch for Health, Auricular Acupuncture for detoxification from drugs and alcohol and Kinesiology. I've been doing traditional counseling since 1973 and in 1989 I graduated into incorporating this type of healing work for faster more efficient results.
