I have been a member of InfraGard since 2012. I serve as a Sector Chief and am on the Board of Governors for InfraGard in Philadelphia. I currently address physical security for religious and educational facilities at a time when that’s sadly necessary. My focus is on general security assessments and helping them get started on their own programs to enhance their safety and security. In addition to my own training, I also draw on my extensive corporate communications background to advocate for making communication a key element to improving physical and cyber security. I emphasize the need to make such programs an ongoing, continuous effort. My success in these areas benefits from my decades of experience drawing out and understanding what’s on people’s minds. I've kept a “finger on the pulse” of people’s attitudes, issues and needs through my focus groups, one-on-one interviews and other techniques. I’ve sat down with front-line employees, CEOs and everyone in-between to help organizations improve communication that builds trust, confidence and engagement. My ability to build rapport with employees and management enabled my clients to gain candid feedback, engage in constructive dialogue, improve business performance, and develop effective communication strategies and tactics. In my “first life,” I had worldwide responsibility for IBM’s "Speak Up!" program -- the ultimate upward communication channel -- which allowed employees to submit their complaints, questions and opinions anonymously and still receive personal responses from management. Directing 75 administrators in more than 50 countries, I provided communications, HR and corporate management with a real-time window into employees’ attitudes and reactions during some of IBM’s most transformational years.
