Starting in 2012, our ecommerce business at BestPharmacy.gr has grown 10x (in 9 years) and it has risen to one of the top online pharmacies in Greece. As a partner, co-director and CTO my main responsibility and goal is to take the company to the next level, by tackling all the operational, financial, business development and technical challenges. As VP of Product Architecture at Sunlight.io I was responsible for leading the upcoming architecture and design of the software (Sunlight Enterprise Software Platform), as well as documenting the overall architecture and implementation of new features through prototyping work. Additionally, working closely with the product engineering team, I've also provided architectural guidance for product development, ensuring that research activity is aligned with the vision for the product and provides value to the company business.Part of my role included also leading research-related activities and managing research projects, including EU-funded R&D activities (e.g. #Horizon2020 projects). Also I have coordinated participation in new Research project proposals and authored several publications and technical documents (deliverables, research papers, technical documentation and patents).

As a Director, I was responsible for incorporating and managing the Sunlight.io subsidiary in Greece. I completed all the legal, financial, tax and labor/HR tasks for the incorporation, working with Greek lawyers, banks, accountants and the local tax offices. After the incorporation, I have been the “legal representative” of the Greek company, responsible for signing all the contracts and company documents, managing the company bank account, authorizing financial transactions (e.g. payroll, expenses), as well as being responsible for tax, labor, safety and regulatory compliance.

Engineering the OnApp Storage product, a high-performance & fault-tolerant storage solution, based on distributed commodity storage devices. Involved not only on system-level design and features, but also on developing, debugging & testing software components at various levels: Linux kernel drivers (block device, dev mapper, nbd, virtualization), storage servers, control path code, testing framework, FS-level code for NFSv4 server, etc.In parallel, conducting research in emerging, power-efficient micro-server architectures (as part of the Euroserver FP7-funded R&D project) on the topics of (i)scalable network and storage I/O, and (ii)energy-driven resource management in cloud architectures.
