About Michal Macha

I am a material scientist and nanoengineer with over 9 years of experience in research and development, project management, and consulting in the field of emerging and innovative technologies, nanomaterials, microfabrication and renewable energy. I have a PhD in Material Science and Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne and multiple certifications in project management and business creation.Currently, I work as a Senior Research Fellow at CERN, where I am involved in a wide spectrum of activities revolving around ionizing radiation damage studies with industrial partnerships. I study and develop organic materials relevant to particle accelerators in high radiation fields, manage and execute the service of gamma radiation testing and materials characterization, and initiate, design, and manage R&D projects aimed at using nanomaterials for lubrication and protective coatings for particle accelerator systems, and advise, consult, and support engineers and researchers in the field of safety, usability, and product development. I am passionate about finding elegant solutions to non-elegant problems, applying my knowledge and skills to create value and impact, and learning new things every day.
