Chief Technology Officer And Co-FounderKalamba Games Dec 2016 - PresentZebbug, MtAs a Chief Technology Officer, I ensure we follow the best practices, development processes, and technology standards at Kalamba. We focus on slot games for the online real-money-gaming market. Our mission is to create top-quality video slot content with retention features that entertain players and promotional capabilities for operators that offer meaningful benefits for players.Day to day, I oversee that our organisation's technology needs and requirements are met and that they respect our growth plans. I directly manage the front-end team while delegating the back-end development and operations to the Director of Back-end Technology. I helped implement ISO 27001, proving that it can be done by an organisation regardless of size. In addition, I support our Finance Department with reporting, reconciliation, and invoicing. I have created a successful recruitment, onboarding and development workflow pipeline, resulting in extremely low staff turnover.I have designed and driven the implementation of Kalamba's client-side game framework that we still use today. The CI/CD workflow I have created allows us to deliver new games at an unprecedented pace and include new functionalities in even the oldest titles with a low risk of things breaking in production.I have implemented telemetry and multivariate testing systems supporting our daily operations and concurrently handling tens of millions of transactions per day. In addition, I am working on our real-money transactions pipeline to streamline reporting and real-time analysis of our data with the latest machine-learning capabilities. -

Co-FounderBeans Apr 2020 - Mar 2023Kraków, Malopolska, PlAs a Co-Founder of Beans, my contribution has been to bootstrap the initial working prototype of the B2C e-commerce marketplace platform, getbeans.com.The working prototype included everything from inventory management on the seller's side to the checkout process on the buyer's side. The bootstrapping also involved setting up the front-end architecture with CI/CD, designing a flexible layout and white labelling structure, internationalization features and authentication with a permission-based access control system, resulting in a robust project template we use to set up new projects to this day. Once the prototype was done, I onboarded additional team members, and I have been overseeing them, adding further features, resolving issues and testing. The marketplace was backing the largest coffee platform in Central Europe, kawa.pl -

SabbaticalTalixo Jul 2013 - Feb 2014Berlin, DeI have dedicated my sabbatical leave to endeavour the digital nomad lifestyle by working on the Talixo project during the entire six-month round-the-world trip.I spent the first two months on an epic 15 000 miles road trip, from the east coast, through 19 states of the contiguous USA, to the west coast. Later, I spent almost four weeks on two beautiful islands of Hawaii – Oahu and Hawaiʻi.I arrived in New Zealand on the Christmas Eve of 2012. I spent the next two months exploring the nooks and crannies of the North and South Islands. After the Middle-earth experience, I decided to skip to Australia, visiting New South Wales and Victoria.I ended my trip by going to Singapore and Hong Kong before arriving back in Poland 6 months later. -

Lead DeveloperGrand Parade May 2013 - Feb 2014Krakow, Malopolskie, PlAs a Lead Developer at Grand Parade, I have consistently delivered solid, well-built applications based on bleeding-edge technologies. In addition, I have outlined best practices and helped streamline documentation and architecture. I was also responsible for code and peer review, encouraging test-driven development and pair programming. My main focus was on front-end development and data visualisation, but I was also comfortable building custom backend solutions using PHP or Python. In 2013 Betfred asked Grand Parade to redesign and rebuild the Totepool Live Information Service. The Live information service was a critical tool for anyone betting into the Tote's horse racing and greyhound pools as it displayed all of the UK and Ireland pool sizes (pots), rollovers and results. I created an HTML5 app that updated every second while rendering the data elegantly on mobile phones as well as ancient PC browsers, which was the primary success of this project.Later, I worked on the front-end implementation of the live in-play scoreboards displayed front and centre on the Coral.co.uk website when football and tennis matches were in action. These scoreboards have processed up-to-the-second information regarding the state of play in a game and then match that data to current live odds, enabling Coral customers to bet on a wide variety of in-play markets. On a busy weekend, this meant simultaneously processing data from several hundred matches worldwide. -

Senior DeveloperGrand Parade Feb 2011 - Sep 2012Krakow, Malopolskie, PlAs a Senior Developer at Grand Parade, I worked on SEO and contextual conversion tools for various blog sites created with WordPress. Our greatest-selling product I helped develop was the contextual widgets that automatically inserted the latest odds and deep links any time they found a match for a sporting event, pun not intended.I have driven the development of the original Betchecker project site with a team of two other people in just a few weeks, from the kick-off to the production deployment. Betchecker was a powerful value tool built by Grand Parade for Betfair, the world's leading betting exchange. The website showed how much a bettor would have won with Betfair compared to other bookmakers. As a fun fact, the product was so recognisable that the competition used it to back their TV ad claims when they found examples of better odds on their platforms. It was also my first project focusing on internationalisation, localisation and translation into multiple languages. -
Google Summer Of Code ParticipantGoogle May 2012 - Aug 2012Mountain View, Ca, UsAs a Google Summer of Code Participant, my task was to improve the SilverStripe Behaviour Testing Framework and Test Suite.SilverStripe had decent coverage of unit tests, but these tests primarily tested the back-end and did not examine the CMS or framework from the user perspective. The project aimed to introduce automated acceptance tests, which simulated user behaviour in the system to check the most common actions. The project was not only my first encounter with the Behaviour-driven Development methodology but with the SilverStripe framework as well. Regardless, I have taken the initiative on such a challenging project and familiarised myself with the complex base technology at lightning speed. Thanks to the excellent mentorship I received, I have delivered high-quality and well-documented software that was fully merged into the SilverStripe repository after my internship and still adds value to their open-source project. -
Software DeveloperSynkia Sp. Z O. O. Jul 2008 - Jan 2011As a Software Developer at Synkia, I was first tasked with developing the corporate website. Since I was the sole developer versed in web technologies in the company, I was given complete autonomy over my choices. This experience taught me how to take ownership of projects. I used Symfony, an excellent solution for us then, and it flawlessly met our needs. The company focused on developing software dedicated to synchronising the mobile phone contact list between manufacturers using proprietary formats and protocols. We successfully delivered the product I was working on, which was the front-end and back-end system to easily manage mobile phone contacts between different devices, in 2008 – before even Google did.Unfortunately, while the company was successful, the business premise turned irrelevant in the age of smartphones and the standardisation of the protocols.Luckily for me, Grand Parade was looking to open a development studio in Poland, so I was the first software developer from Poland working as a contractor for Grand Parade Ltd, and the story continued. The dates listed above are the formal dates of my employment because Synkia was converted to an outsourcing software house in 2010 and successfully acquired by Grand Parade Ltd in early 2011.
