It is a group effort.” This is no quote, such is my perception! I believe it is one of the cornerstones in conducting business today.As manager for the last twenty five years in various industries, I have a strong appreciation for the global efforts of a team and through training and nurturing, have helped individuals and teams to reach beyond their own expectations as well as that of senior management.• It is not as much about who gets the credit as it is about winning as a team.• Thinking big and having the ability to disciple your workforce, thereby enabling them to follow where you lead is a crucial component of managerial aptitude.• Being ambidextrous in the use of your right and left brain simultaneously enables one to be both creative and effective in achieving goals.• Always surrounding yourself with determined, ambitious, intelligent people will help you achieve exponentially more as a team than you would individually.• Thinking outside the box is a great concept however a paradigm shift in one’s approach to conceptual ideas proves to be more beneficial.• Teaching, nurturing, encouraging and training are an essential part of a manager’s role.• Being able to recognise potential and the ability to lead a team to realise that potential is an integral trait of great leaders.Although I don’t think that self-confidence can be taught, I believe it can be instilled.
