Dr. Berg is the inventor of the MedaCube and CEO of PharmAdva, LLC since September 2023. He has been involved in PharmAdva since its founding and has participated in a number of entrepreneurial ventures. His academic career started when he joined the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry faculty in 1993 where he was the Director of the Strong Epilepsy Center for many years, overseeing a doubling to 50 employees with an annual budget of $6-8M. He stepped down from the Epilepsy Center Director role in the summer of 2023 so he could devote full time to the MedaCube. Dr. Berg is a Professor of Neurology with a special interest in technology for health. He has conducted projects on enhancing medication adherence with smart medication dispensers with 6 issued utility patents, automating MRI analysis, seizure prediction from EEG, video analysis of gait and movement disorders, and the genetics of abnormalities of brain development. He is co-author of the text, 100 Maxims in Clinical Neuroradiology and has authored and co-authored numerous scientific articles in the above fields. Dr. Berg received a B.S. in Physics from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He then obtained his M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse. At the University of Rochester, Dr. Berg completed both a residency in Neurology and a fellowship in Epilepsy. Dr. Berg is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the subspecialty Boards of Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy; the American Board of Internal Medicine; and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
