Master Business AnalystVale May 2021 - Feb 2023Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil• Developed a model of a new steel production route, in which a new electric furnace technology, called Electric Furnace Smelter (ESF) is coupled with direct reduction reactor to produce hot metal and there is no modification on downstream (BOF). This model is used to predict the competitiveness of Vale´s and competitors iron ores in this new route.• Responsible for design a new methodology to estimate the future agglomerated (pellets and briquettes) premiums, considering the decarbonization effect, which will increase the demand for these products, specially for DR-EAF grade agglomerates.• Advise senior management in long term strategies definition and scenarios analysis, considering the most relevant pathways to decarbonize the steel industry. -
Senior Business AnalystVale May 2018 - Apr 2021Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil• Developed a model to simulate the use of a new agglomerated product, namely briquettes, in the blast furnaces. This model is used to define the best chemical composition of the briquettes in order to reduce costs and CO2 emissions of our clients, to estimate premiums and prices and to increase the profitability of the future briquettes plants.• Designed analytical assessments and optimization models to evaluate the impacts of decarbonization in steel and mining industries. This study was developed in partnership with McKinsey company, in Brussels.• Strong international experience in this period, working in complex and high added-value projects in China, Japan and Singapore, providing to commercial team assessments to support the best allocation of Vale´s products to optimize the global results.• Worked in partnership with Climate Change and Investor Relations departments in order to elaborate presentations to be used in Vale Day and Vale Investors Tour and also as a technical advisor to press releases elaboration. -
EngineerVale Oct 2013 - Apr 2018Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil• Developed a new model to assess the value-in-use/prices of iron ores considering not only the intrinsic characteristics of the products, but also supply and demand and the market dynamics.• Designed new iron ore products, e.g, Brazilian Blend Fines, to increase the company profitability.• Supported portfolio strategies and M&A studies.• Concluded my master degree in extractive metallurgy at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), entitled: “Assessment of the impact of the sulfur content of metallurgical coals on their values in use”. -
Junior EngineerVale Feb 2010 - Sep 2013Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil• Responsible for conceptual development, modelling and application of numerical simulation tools to simulate BF-BOF route (sintering, coke making, blast furnace and basic oxygen furnace) and DR-EAF (direct reduction and electric arc furnace).• Conducted trade-off analysis to assess the value-in-use of Vale’s iron ores and coals in China, JKT, MENA, SEA, Europe and Americas.• Provided technical assessments and recommendations to support sales teams during contract negotiations. -
InternVale Feb 2008 - Jan 2010Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil• Research and development of a new methodology to evaluate the sinter feed properties at high temperatures.
