Michel ventured into corporate banking in 2007 and has been in the field ever since. He has a proven track record in the banking business in the MENA region along with an excellent network especially in the Iraqi market. He participated in the establishment of Bank Audi Iraq and turned it into one of the most successful and profitable banks in Iraq. The resilient corporate strategy he adopted, resulted in a return on equity higher than 15% for the bank in 2020, one of the most difficult years for banking. Working during crisis times in Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon, Michel gained exceptional experience and insights about banking, market dynamics, business development, liquidity management and risk mitigation.In 2022, Michel started a private consulting practice specializing in capital raise and banking advisory. He is also an experienced trainer in Accounting and Finance enabling companies to enhance their cash flow engine, and optimize their business models becoming bankable and investment ready.In 2023, he was appointed as CEO of Bank of Jordan Iraq where he currently works.Michel holds an MBA degree from Imperial College London and worked with Bank Audi for more than 13 years where he was responsible for corporate lending for large corporate clients.The businesses he has worked on are of a very broad range of industries including contracting, manufacturing and trading of steel, aluminum, cement, ceramics, and automobile, commodities, in addition to retail, shopping malls, shipping, oil & gas, hospitality and tourism, education, transportation, and IT.In the large corporate business, many of the projects were green field and Michel has worked on several project finance and syndication projects. In fact, he was sent to attend a 1-week training session by Euromoney in Istanbul about Public Private Partnership (PPP) financing to handle the unit related to financing energy and other PPP projects.
