    As a founding member of the national governing body for obstacle sports, I was able to have a look behind the scenes at many European obstacle races, before becoming an Event producer and Race director.I took the initiative founding the Dutch OCR governing body “OCRA Nederland” (before: OCRA Benelux) as early as 2015. As Chairman in OCRA Nederland’s first year I led the organization to many achievements until I felt I could focus on more operational tasks and the development of new ideas with a new chairman at the wheel. I was part of the organization of the first OCR European Championships as the initiator and binding factor among the “Alliance of European OCR associations”. I was responsible for the medal design, the podium awards, the wristbands, registration and information stands, social media, website and many other things during and prior to the organization of the first OCR European Championships.As the Event producer and Race director for the second edition of the OCR European Championships I got the chance to build an even more impressive event.While the first edition the championships were hosted at another event, for the second edition we had designed a complete own course.For these 2017 OCR European Championships we put together one of the toughest possible courses if not the toughest course ever seen within competitive obstacle course racing.We received a lot of feedback from athletes and adjudicators; much praise from many athletes including the current European and World male champion, but also constructive criticism which I can now use to build even more impressive events in the future.
