My career began as an elementary teacher in 1995. Since that time, I have migrated from a classroom, to an Assistant Technology Director, and now to the Coordinator of Distance Education. In addition to providing technology professional development to teachers in 8 Ohio counties, I am also developing and delivering interactive content and courses through both Interactive Video Distance Learning and online learning platforms. My role at East Central Ohio Educational Service Center is a partnership in Video Services with Licking Area Computer Association (LACA), the ITC serving a large portion of Central Ohio. As the Coordinator of Distance Education, I am currently managing and supporting 6 full-time Chinese teachers, 4 full-time teachers of American Sign Language and 4 visiting teachers from the Spanish Educational Ministry. Of special note is the receipt of the Confucius Institute designation from the Chinese Hanban association. The ECOESC and the Distance Education department have secured a lasting partnership with Hanban to help provide Chinese language and culture to districts served through video conferencing. The ECOESC Confucius Institute is one of only six K-12 Confucius Institute in the United States at this time and is a 3rd party partnership with the College Board. We are excited to continue to foster this long-term relationship.
