If there's one thing I wish I had known years ago, it's that life never quite turns out the way that you expect it to. It's good, it's bad, and it's everything in between. I know...from experience.Although on paper, I'm a graduate of the University of Vermont with a pre-medical background and 4.0 GPA (valedictorian), there's much that goes left unseen. In all reality, I beat the odds more than once...I survived situations that many wouldn't. From growing up with a Type 1 Diabetic, living in an abusive situation which later led to a restraining order, being kicked out of receiving help with my struggle with anorexia due to the hospital guidelines and health insurance policies in place, and most recently almost being abducted trying to publish my memoir, you better believe life hasn't been easy.When I should have died, I said screw it. I said screw it to the odds and did it. And inspire others to do the same.So what do I do now?1.) I freelance write for magazines, blogs, and a variety of other publications.3.) I founded this platform www.notastandard.com where others can share their stories and struggles to inspire others to keep going when times are tough, connect them to others whom can help, and educate so that diagnosis are better understood.
