Founded in 1844, Butler Hospital was Rhode Island's first hospital. Originally dedicated to the treatment of psychiatry and substance abuse, Butler Hospital exists as the only free-standing mental health teatment facility for all ages in the State. Butler Hospital is affiliated with the Alpert Medical School at Brown University and conducts over $14 Million in research each year.As the Executive Director of the Butler Hospital Foundation, Michele is responsible for securing philanthropic revenue to benefit hospital operations, special initiatives, and research. Michele is also involved in educating the general public about the hospital and its activities.

Responsible for the development and implementation of fund development for hospital operations and special projects. As part of the leadership team, I worked directly with 100+ staff, medical professionals and researchers. Managed three Hospital board committees, five Foundation Board committees, a team of six and a volunteer core of 50+.

It is based on the best practices and rudimentary principles of fundraising. Designed for those new to the fundraising field, or experienced fundraisers seeking to expand their body of knowledge, this course will take you through the entire fundraising cycle from donor prospecting, relationship building, annual giving, to major and estate gifts. Covered are the key components that make up a comprehensive professional development program, including strategic planning, annual giving, the capital campaign, major and leadership gifts, planned and estate giving, corporations and foundations, volunteer leadership management, prospect research, special events, and stewardship. This program is designed specifically for professionals who manage or who aspire to manage in nonprofit and charitable organizations.

Caritas, Inc. (formerly known as Caritas House) began as a single facility dedicated to providing residential substance abuse treatment to teenage girls of Rhode Island, The non-profit has grown since it's inception in 1971 to include three residential programs for teenage girls, teenage boys, and adult women. The organization also offers outpatient treatment for substance abuse. As the Director of Development and Marketing, Michele ran all the fundraising activities for the non-profit including grant writing, event planning, and annual fund implementation. Also coordinated marketing initiatives and public realations tactics to increase visability to the organization. Responsible for Board training and development.
