About Michele Di Palma
The functioning of life at the molecular level has always fascinated me. Observing and understanding these mechanisms enables the development of intervention strategies for disease.My research interests in the biomedical field focus on the structural study of biomolecules involved in pathological processes, and the subsequent rational design and development of drugs. In my work, disciplines such as medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, and especially molecular biology, crystallography, and structural biology play a fundamental role.I am skilled in a range of chemical and biochemical techniques, including cryo-EM, macromolecular and small molecule crystallography, FPLC chromatography, UV-Vis, IR, and fluorescence spectroscopy, NMR, LC-MS, as well as multistep organic synthesis and metal complex synthesis. My molecular biology expertise includes bacterial transformation, protein expression and purification in E. coli, SDS-PAGE, agarose gel electrophoresis, and SELEX.In addition to my research, I am passionate about chess, art, cooking, and brewing.
