● Managed the Leuven (Belgium) part of the NXP Telematics activity and guided the team through the transition from NXP Semiconductors to Telit Automotive Solutions. Effective April 1st, 2014, NXP Semiconductors sold its telematics activities to Telit Automotive Solutions.● Ad interim also took care of guiding the Caen (France) part of the team through the same transition process and acted as the de-facto overall R&D Manager for the NXP Telematics unit - activity continued during the initial period at Telit Automotive Solutions.

● (2011-2014) Managed the complete prototype & commercial product development for ATOP 3.5G in all aspects: hardware, software, industrialization, automotive qualification, .... ● (2007-2011) Managed the conceptual definition and the architectural development of successive generations of ATOP (2.5G & 3.5G). Chairman of the NXP Telematics Architecture Board.● ATOP is an innovative Automotive Telematics On-board unit Platform for road pricing, e-call, stolen vehicle tracking, pay-as-you-drive insurance, and many other applications. It was instrumental in making eCall a mandatory technology in all new cars in the EU as of March 31, 2018 (EU Regulation 2015/758). The project generated multiple patents, one of which won NXP's "Patent of the Year" Gold Award for 2009.

● Consultancy project: "Market Opportunity Analysis for Biosensors"

● Co-Initiated the ATOMIUM software development projects in 1997 and successfully led them till 2006. ATOMIUM provides robust support for imec's well known Data Transfer and Storage Exploration (DTSE) methodology and at the time was considered to be one of imec's crown jewels. In 2003, a US-based start-up company was created to commercialize the software.● Previously also managed Imec's contribution to a major EU research project (JESSI AC1 / ESPRIT 7364) between 1992 and 1995.

● Successfully merged four pre-existing - and sometimes competing - R&D projects aimed at minimizing power consumption of digital devices into one highly effective multi-disciplinary research team of approximately 25 people. The re-aligned team produced several new core R&D assets, such as Imec’s Multi-Processor System On a Chip (MP-SOC) program, aimed at extending the DTSE methodology to multi-processor systems.

● (1993-2003) Redefined the long-term development strategy and process for research software of an imec division consisting of 50 to 100 people. Co-developed the ATOMIUM software, thus validating this strategy and process hands-on. The complete ATOMIUM environment consists of more than 2 million lines of code.● (1992-1993) Contributed significantly to the SIL input & modeling language for interactive silicon compilation for high-performance integrated systems (ESPRIT 2260 - SPRITE), also supporting transformational systems design. ● (1989-1990 & 1991-1992) Co-designed and co-developed reusable software libraries that were still in active use as a basis for new developments in 2007 (and may well still be so today).
