Businesses need adaptive approaches to closing disparities in branding and advertising Black-led and Black-facing businesses to mainstream audiences. The Creative Summer Company approaches this challenge by providing consulting services to *Black-led and *Black-facing businesses.We coach cultural workers who have limited content knowledge and context, enabling them to build the muscle for responsive internal and external branding and communications. We leverage our in-house relationship management rubric and a diaspora-focused content toolkit—inclusive of a Black culture content calendar and content pillars—to build relevant, enduring communication strategies.We provide marketing and communications training through an anti-racist framework that is equipped with accountability measures for Black and white-led businesses and coalitions.Our approach gives brands tools that they need to best promote themselves and be in an authentic relationship with the community around them, whether or not they personally identify. As the Chief Executive Officer, I design successful, research-oriented solutions that equip our agency and our clients to successfully and authoritatively meet the demands of a constantly changing digital landscape.

Foster is a social network for writers. Our writers elevate the quality of their work through feedback from peers and professional editors. Think Twitter meets Google Docs. I advise Foster on best practices to ensure that it grows into an inclusive community that welcomes and edifies writers of all backgrounds.

I plan, research, and create timely social media content for the NMAAHC. I spend my time tapping into what's happening in the world, in the museum, and in Black culture. I convert that into relevant content for the museum’s social media audience, which exceeds 750,000 people. I write daily standalone content and execute cohesive campaigns tied to museum and Smithsonian-wide initiatives.

I researched, pitched, and conducted a regular interview column for MTV News. My focus was simple -- I wrote compelling stories about smart creators. Like everything in my life, this writing was designed to inspire action. And it did.

I created a music blog for fellow hip-hop lovers. I started the site in 2009 and grew it to a point where it was featured on CNN, Pitchfork and HipHopWired. I managed a team of 20 writers across three continents. Through this journet, I was able to interview musical legends such as Lupe Fiasco, Chuck D, Phife Dawg, and Jhene Aiko. I also serve as the creative director for Masego’s ‘Stevie’ tribute EP.

I moved up from being a SAT Preparatory Instructor to a Brand Ambassador for The Princeton Review. This meant I got to partner up with local high schools, universities, businesses and nonprofit organizations to show them the power of our study materials and empower students to get into their dream schools.

I taught high school students how to get to the top of their game for the SAT test. Using the proprietary Princeton Review method, I would teach them techniques for maximizing their study routines and test-taking habits so that they could exceed their goals.
