- Worked with different tracking technologies for augmented reality applicationsin the surgical operating room, primarily in C++.- Improved registration errors by automating the localization of spherical anchor points in a 3D medical image. Obtained candidate points from crude visual detections, then extracted and ordered the correct set of spheres given their relative spacings utilizing ITK and Eigen libraries (C++, Matlab). - Designed and built a 3D user interface for intra-operative surgical planning of orthopaedic reconstruction procedures using VTK graphics libraries (C++) - Collaborated with a multi-disciplinary team of surgeons, nurses, engineers and technicians to perform a large-scale clinical trial to validate the accuracy and usability of the GTx navigation system at the Toronto General Hospital. - Developed a gesture driven 3D image navigation interface (C++, LeapMotion APIs) to allow surgeons to interact with image software in the operating room while maintaining sterility.
