I served two 3-year terms on the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Integrative Medicine. My special interest was to raise awareness of the very real risks of physician burnout and impairment while highlighting the importance of a proactive, preventive approach that supports physician health and wellness.

After completing pediatric residency in 1998, I was invited to join the Duke faculty. I served the Durham community as a primary care provider until 2008 and then transitioned to the medical management of childhood obesity and its associated comorbidities in the Duke Children's Healthy Lifestyles program.
