  • The Kroger Co
    Category Manager
The Kroger Co May 2008 - Apr 2011
    Cincinnati, Ohio
Performed tasks such as analyzing dunnhumby customer data to determine purchasing behavior, vendor negotiations, product selection, contract compliance and merchandising. ➢ Successfully managed the Slim Fast recall in December 2009 by reaching out to the Private Label supplier and instructing them to bulk up inventory for Kroger so that we would have enough product to give our customers an alternative to Slim Fast on the shelf. In addition, an emergency POG update was done to fill the holes at the shelf. The results were phenomenal corporate brand growth, maintaining category sales and increasing market share.➢ Successfully managed all of the J&J recalls in the Analgesics and Upper Respiratory categories by instructing stores to sort thru product and place good lot numbers back on the shelf. This plays into the Customer 1st Strategy and allowed Kroger to stay in business on products that meant the most to customers. In addition, I reached out to the supplier community, asking them to develop and bring to market similar products to the items that had been recalled by J&J to give our customers an alternative. I continued to work with procurement on shipping issues and implemented POG updates when needed to fill holes on the shelf. Kroger’s market share in these categories grew as a result after the Tylenol recall.➢ Oral Care Reset 2010 – I implemented two tests in different Kroger markets to learn what our customers wanted to see in the Oral Care category. Customer intercepts were done and dunnhumby analysis was used to determine the success of the tests. The test with the best result was implemented corporate-wide in Period 9, 2010. Results in the first year after POG implementation were strong with sales numbers up double digits every week. Total sales increase vs. prior year exceeded $12MM during the first year after the reset.
