The Director of Outreach and Engagement works to develop relationships, plan, deliver and manage innovative pathways to strengthen the vitality of the campus and region. The Director will engage corporate organizations for internships and sponsorships, plan operational activities, camps and increase the visibility of the campus. Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Director sets priorities and goals, oversees program development and delivery, manages operations and finances, and assures compliance with all applicable policies of the University. The Director works closely with faculty, staff, administrative colleagues, external collaborators and constituency groups to meet the mission and goals of the campus. The Director of Outreach and Engagement provides campus leadership, vision, and regional visibility for UMC’s strategic outreach and engagement initiatives. This position collaborates, plans, leads, and continuously improves the overall visibility and awareness of programs, campus events and University services.

Reporting to the chancellor of the University of Minnesota Crookston, the director is responsible for all strategic student recruitment planning, outreach activities, office management and the development and execution of an integrated annual and long-term enrollment plan, which will enable the campus to identify, recruit, select and enroll qualified high school students, transfer students and working professionals from diverse populations and geographic locations. Supervising a team of 16 and overseeing an operational and recruitment budget of $1.1 million, the director will work in collaboration with all internal stakeholders to develop and implement comprehensive and aggressive on campus, online, and international recruitment strategies, targeted marketing tactics and related activities to achieve the university’s student enrollment and multicultural goals. The director is expected to collaborate with the directors of admission at the University of Minnesota system campuses to enhance system-wide recruitment efforts as well as collaborate with the director of university relations in the development of communication strategies for a variety of market segments that address prospective students, application processes, and pre-enrollment phases of the admissions process to serve the university’s enrollment objectives

Coordinate marketing, promotion, recruitment and retention efforts in the Center, provide leadership and support for integrating and expanding technology enhanced/enabled learning, support academic program quality improvement efforts, collaborate internal and external support and promotion of UMC as a premier education provider, work with regional partners in the delivery of education that supports the economic stability and growth of the region, create and sustain strong relationships with public and private sectors to provide customized training, extended learning and to develop, deliver and promote innovative programs that embrace technology for distance programs and those on-site, supervise workers, manage budgets, work effectively with administrative offices, campus committees, and academic units, assure efficient day to day Center operations. Coordinate and serve non traditional audiences online, on site and in regional high schools.
