My professional goal is to help people realize possibilities - that the trajectory we are on is not inevitable and we can make build new sustainable and equitable systems to pass on to future generations. For my career, I've done that by leading and growing nonprofit organizations that work at the community and regional level. My career in community development has led to some exciting initiatives, like developing social enterprises, growing restoration strategies, building market rate housing in transitioning neighborhoods, and leading large collaborative decision making processes. My passion for systems change and the role of networks to activate leaders in communities was instilled in me long ago by mentors, especially Carol Kuhre at Rural Action. I'm grateful to stand on the shoulders of so many social change leaders, a fact that humbles me. It's been a terrific five years at the Inland Empire Community Foundation and we have done so much to build up a Culture of Philanthropy in the IE, a region of 27,000 square miles, two counties, and 4.6 million people. From raising new state dollars, partnering with great donors and nonprofits, and putting new collaboratives on the ground in the IE, I couldn't be more proud of our Board and team and grateful for the trust and partnership of our nonprofit community.
