My current research focus on developing and comparing different analytical techniques to characterize rock types and their relationship with sulfide minerals. These techniques include XRD, micro-XRF, SEM, and Raman analyses to characterize both the rock and the weatherability of sulfide minerals. I am also the lab manager of our sample preparation laboratory, which focuses on the preparation of polished sections for use in SEM or other mineralogical analyses methods. Our laboratory also trains in the technique of hydroseparation which allows the concentration of heavy mineral populations such as gold, silver, PGM, sulfides, or other dense mineral grains, which can be used to create monolayer polished pucks. This technique can be used to concentrate rare mineral populations with a low environmental impact.
