GTR is a London-based commuter railway. With currently c6000 employees across the network, we have colleagues based at over 250 locations. Employees cover a wide range of roles including Drivers, Engineers and Customer Services staff.Communications lead for the modernisation portfolio. Reporting to both Communications and Programmes, I lead on all communications that aim to modernise the railways including at station, on board and behind the scenes. I liaise with the wider comms team to deliver the appropriate messaging and attend the programme board meetings as well as union consultations meetings to devise and deliver the holistic comms plan across the portfolio of projects.

Lead on all aspects of internal communications from management of regular channels to specific projects and communications and the engagement strategy, working closely with the Executive team and across all business functions to provide communications solutions to all colleagues, with an added focus on our ‘hard to reach’ population. Role included press, social media, stakeholder, customer service and internal.

The Co-operative Group Responsible for the management of all internal and external communications, including employee engagement, operational, customer and business change communications to the HRPS teams (c200 colleagues) and our customers across the entire family of businesses (approx 100,000 colleagues).I worked closely with the corporate communications team and Group HR and managed all the internal communications processes including the communications forum. I worked closely with our Senior Leadership Team to design and communicate our business strategy. I also worked with the Head of Customer Insight to ensure our messages and our brand is communicated to our customers. My other duties include creation and management of intranet content for the Group HR & People portal.

In this role I successfully created and embedded all the People Services Communications utilising the Target Operating Model and strategy I created which formalised channels and provided governance of messages as well as giving every member of the Operation a voice to contribute. This included establishment and management of the monthly newsletter, the Comms Forum, the weekly news and all comms processes, guidelines and support materials. I was responsible for planning, creating materials and campaigns for multiple projects running simultaneously. Alongside this I managed communications and engagement events and any BAU communications requirements, ensuring that the teams and our customers have the right information in the right way at the right time.
