As a people focused leader, multicultural sensitivity and inclusivity is a key pillar of my career endeavours which I have gained during my years as a patient care specialist. My core values of honesty, accountability, generosity, sportsmanship and balance have played a fundamental role in my personal and professional development, as they shape my decision making, perspectives and sense-making. My experience in the legal sector provided opportunities to develop core skills including effective communication, time management and critical attention to detail as I supported multiple lawyers with administrative support, specifically editing and formatting of agreements, annual reports, contracts, and prospectuses to name a few. Working alongside leaders who exemplified accountability and work-life balance helped expand my understanding of authentic leadership. My transition to nursing offered the ability to further develop these core skills while honing in on my people-centric focus capabilities. In my 9 years of experience working as a nurse, I learned the importance of translating medical terminology into readily understood language. However, I was craving a change with increased responsibility and opportunity for development. In September 2021, I began pursuing a MBA specialized in Leadership to support my transition from traditional hospital-based healthcare and enhance my business acumen in order to connect my corporate legal experience and nursing career with my future professional endeavours. Each phase of my learning journey has been built upon people centric professions. With each new person I meet, I am curious about their story, their journey from where they came from and where they are going. As a nurse, I’ve seen people at their worst imaginable moments, however, I have also witnessed the strength and resiliency in the moments of joy. The worst and best that humanity has to offer.My desire to support people hasn’t changed, only the way I go about making an impact has.
