Research is focused on studying the role of wildtype EWSR1, fusion oncogenic EWS-FLI1, and R-loop stress in Ewing Sarcoma. • Designed and created recombinant DNA plasmids with PCR and restriction enzyme-based techniques for protein expression in E. coli cells.• Purified recombinant protein from E. coli cells with immobilized metal ion affinity chromatography and size-exclusion chromatography.• Maintained sterile mammalian cell culture for plasmid transfection, lentiviral transduction, drug treatment, and 3D tumor spheroids formation.• Performed biochemical assays such as electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA), western blot, dot blot, co-immunoprecipitation, qPCR, and immunofluorescence.• Collaborated with other scientists in the department of Pharmacology to design and execute experiments.• Served as a mentor to graduate and undergraduate research assistants in lab participation.• Served as a teaching assistant for one general chemistry and two biochemistry classes, lead laboratory sections, graded exams and quizzes.

Research in our lab is focused on the origins of life and the RNA World.
