EMBODYING JUSTICE demonstrates the artwork of survivors of the human sex slaves, known as “comfort women,” by the Japanese government/army during the WWII. I built responsive web interfaces for desktop, tablet and mobile devices to showcase these two exhibits online. I developed style sheets, wireframes, and a high-fidelity mockup of the virtual exhibition. The virtual showcase features a mix of audio, video, and image media to showcase each artist’s collection. RETURN opened on February 5, 2021, and you may view it on awakeningsart.org. I continued my affiliation with Awakenings but now I serve as a volunteer. I have done it all: consulted with clients to discuss themes, designs, and concepts; worked with vendors, staff, and venues to coordinate materials, timetables, and schedules; and execute all details from the beginning (delegation and production), middle (transport and installation) the very end (disassembly and clean-up). However, I will design and build to the best of my abilities to ensure my clients experience their best day. As I ideate and iterate ideas and designs, I empathize with their needs and concerns first. My mantra is, “It is the client’s day, not yours.” I will say the phrase to myself and others when either of us impedes their demands and wishes onto my clients. As a freelance designer, I worked with a small team to build and install floral and décor for weddings and special events. It is a fast-paced environment with tight schedules and deadlines.
