I have temporarily left the work force to focus on raising our children.

As an autopsy technician, I assist board certified forensic pathologists during autopsies. During which, we assess external and internal examination findings to determine a cause of death, collect blood and other specimens for toxicology analysis, and fingerprints (among other tests) for identification verification, if needed. American Forensics is a NAME accredited independent company that can conduct private, forensic/JP, and second autopsies. From 2013-2014, we experienced a business growth of over 25%. American Forensics can also give references for mortuary services as well as provide a sterile workspace for tissue and bone recovery agencies.

I assisted members of the office staff (Team Lead, Agent Services Director, MCA) with office event coordination and scheduling, continuing education opportunities, and social events in conjunction with other vendors and sponsors. Additionally, I managed day-to-day operations by handling high volumes of property inquiries via phone/email/fax, commission disbursements, and billing. Weekly meetings were held to discuss business growth, agent retention, & recruitment.

Under the advisement and supervision of the Director of Anatomical Services, we prepared intake (donated) cadavers for student dissection or long-term storage, as well as prepared remains to be sent out for cremation and back to next of kin. Daily tasks included observing and ensuring proper handling and sterile techniques were used by fellow students during exams and regular laboratory sessions. Exhibited safe handling of hazardous materials necessary for preservation, and to limit cross-contamination. We also assisted medical professors in preparation of student doctor laboratory practical exams.

Working in emergency medicine setting greatly increased my ability to prioritize tasks to adapt to an everchanging environment while keeping a high level of proficiency and accuracy in my work. Quick navigation of charting software allowed me to smoothly move from documenting patient history, current prescriptions, and signs & symptoms without falling behind or missing out on an important detail. During these 9-12 hour shifts, I would keep the emergency physician abreast of all incoming results of radiography, laboratory, and EKG testing. All data was transcribed in accordance with hospital coding regulations and charts were completed in a timely manner for patient discharge or admission.

Working in the fast-paced restaurant industry really showed me what it meant to understand the idea of working more efficiently, configuring & constantly adjusting task priorities, time management, and conflict resolution.
