Independently collected wildlife surveys as directed by the regional wildlife biologist for Southern Utah. Attended interagency training prior to conducting surveys. Duties included but were not limited to: • Independent surveys for Pinyon Jay (G. cyanocephalus) nesting colony locations• Performed independent surveys to estimate abundance and habitat quality of rare avian species • Small mammal trapping using Sherman traps • Assessed habitat quality and identified birds by sight and sound• Hiked distances greater than 5km• Surveyed in sagebrush steppe, desert, grassland, and mountainous habitats• Soil composition surveys• Remote solitary work with extensive camping and driving• Vegetation surveys (line intercept)• Troubleshooting issues with 4WD vehicles • Interaction with private landowners• Passerine mist netting

Independently collected wildlife surveys as directed by the regional wildlife biologist for J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Worked independently and in teams when conducting a variety of field research on the refuge. Duties included but were not limited to: • Conducted independent point count surveys for wading and shorebird species • Conducted independent point counts for neotropical passerines • Rookery surveys for colonial nesting species during breeding season • Conducted sea turtle rookery surveys during laying season. Along 3-5kms of beach per survey.• Assisted in the design, implementation, and maintenance of freshwater wetland habitat • Designed and implemented a survey to determine the effect of anthropogenic activity on refuge bird presence. • Carried gear over 40lbs• Collaborated with non-government and inter-agency researchers to collect data on the refuge.• Soil composition and vegetation surveys• Extensive data entry using Microsoft Office • Invasive plant removal and herbicide application

Worked in remote South Texas brush country and coastal ranches to determine the habitat usage and estimate the abundance of small mammal and avian populations.
