As a Clinical Assistant in KVRC at Kensington Health, I ensure patient satisfaction and smooth operations in the clinic while collaborating with the clinical team. I organize patient flow, often assisting multiple physicians at once by preparing their patients for appointments. Some of my tasks include preparing supply kits for retinal injections, directing referrals to various physicians based on their specialties and availabilities, creating and updating EMR charts, maintaining email correspondence with referring clinics, and supporting patients before procedures.

I have been teaching at Spirit of Math Schools as an Assistant Teacher for over eight years. During my time with the company, I have had the privilege of assisting in classes from grades 1 to 6. Some of my day-to-day tasks in this position include answering student questions, marking student work, teaching both 1-on-1 as well as addressing the class as a whole, and various administrative duties.

I teach elementary school students between the ages of 6-12 one-on-one and work with them to increase their proficiency in numeracy and critical thinking skills. I aim to find the best in every child and create lesson plans that challenge and encourage them to improve. I strive to become a leader and mentor for all of my students and to inspire them to keep learning.

In my fourth year, I successfully defended my undergraduate thesis on triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) at Toronto Metropolitan University (BLG40A/B). This project was under supervision of Dr. Costin Antonescu in the Faculty of Science, with guidance of PhD candidate Karolina Zak. My project was a continuation of Karolina's work on signaling pathways in TNBC, where I explored these pathways in a mutated cancer cell line. My experiments involved techniques in mammalian cell culture, siRNA knockdown, and Western blotting. The overarching goal of this project was to gain insight on the protein-protein interactions in these cell signalling pathways to determine treatment targets for aggressive cancers.

In this role, I investigated the composition of a nanoparticle treatment for COVID-19 in collaboration with Klaidi Shkalla, supervised by Dr. David Cramb in the Faculty of Science at Toronto Metropolitan University. For my project, I designed protocols and independently conducted experiments involving liposome preparation, fluorescence quenching, dynamic light scattering, and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, and analyzed my results using OriginPro. This position was funded by the Undergraduate Research Opportunity (URO), and I presented the project at the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Showcase in September 2022.

In this role, I performed research in computational neurosciences under the supervision of Dr. Na Yu in the Department of Mathematics at Ryerson University. We aimed to predict the activity of bursting neural networks using theoretical analysis and computational modelling in Python and MATLAB. As a recipient of the 2021 FOS Undergraduate Research Opportunities award, I presented this project at the URO 2021 Showcase. Our work was also published in Heliyon in 2021, with title, "Noise-induced network bursts and coherence in a calcium-mediated neural network."
