My name is Michelle and I am passionate about working in the mental health field. One of the best years of my life was spent as a marriage and family therapy intern at Veterans Village San Diego, which is a residential facility for homeless veterans who suffer from substance abuse issues. Between the coursework in my graduate program and the Invaluable experience I gained at Veterans Village, I became even more convinced that the mental health field was where I belonged. In 2016 I began working as a psychiatric technician at Naval Health Clinic Cherry Point. It was there that my foundation as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist really began to take shape. I was fortunate enough to have mentors who encouraged me to utilize my skills on an individual basis and as a facilitator for the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Military Sexual Trauma Groups. The experience I gained at NHCCP was truly invaluable and thoroughly prepared me for what was to come next. From March 2019- May 2020 I was a School Based Therapist in Arapaho, North Carolina. I provided evidence-based psychotherapy to students in a school setting and worked closely with students, school staff, parents, program staff, and other service providers to ensure best possible care for my clients.I recently returned to my home state of Missouri and I am looking forward to expanding my professional experience within the mental health field. Some fun facts about me: • I once juggled a soccer ball 364 times • In high school I learned to buck hay• I grew up in Germany (Army Brat)• I have a type-A personality • I love swimming in the ocean • Running is my favorite form of self-care • I am always ready for a good camping trip
