Michelle Oake is the Project Manager, Windsor-Essex Regional Community Safety & Well-Being Plan, at the City of Windsor. Michelle holds a Masters Degree in Human Kinetics (MHK) from the University of Windsor, where her focus was Health Psychology. Michelle’s interests are in the psychosocial aspects of human and health services and community well-being. Michelle has a passion for knowledge translation and is dedicated to promoting evidence-based approaches to wellness.Prior to her employment with the City of Windsor, Michelle worked as the Executive Director of the Windsor Essex Child/Youth Advocacy Centre. In addition, Michelle worked as a Research Project Coordinator at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital (Canada’s largest children’s rehabilitation hospital), located in Toronto.Over the years, Michelle has collaborated on projects through Holland Bloorview, SickKids, Anne Johnston Health Station, Ryerson University, the University of Windsor, and a number of community partner organizations.Michelle is an active contributor to workshops, presentations, and has co-authored a number of peer reviewed journal articles in the areas of health and wellness for vulnerable populations. Her current focus is to ensure and promote community safety and well-being best practices (through model adaptation, practice, and community partner collaboration) in Windsor-Essex.
