As editor in chief of The Daily Californian, UC Berkeley's independent student newspaper, I oversaw a staff of more than 200 students and a small group of full-time professionals. I served as the chair of the paper's Senior Editorial Board, which produces biweekly editorials and has final say over all editorial decisions. I also sat on the Daily Cal's Board of Directors and was the president of the Independent Berkeley Student Publishing Company.

I ran a successful campaign to implement a new student fee at UC Berkeley to support the operations and independence of the student-run newspaper. After months of coordinated digital and physical campaigning, the student body voted overwhelmingly to approve the fee in the annual student government elections.

As the University News Editor for UC Berkeley's independent student newspaper, I oversaw all content related to campus, administration, the UC system, and student life. I performed the duties of a regular news editor — news scanning, editing daily and long-term stories, and covering breaking news — as well as administrative tasks. I sat on The Daily Californian's Senior Editorial Board, which meets twice each week to discuss the structure and organization of the editorial side of the enterprise and discusses and writes the publication's editorials.

As a news editor, I performed daily news scanning and was expected to be aware of all news that could potentially be of interest to our readers. I was responsible for maintaining reporter accountability by checking in throughout the day and parallel-reporting when a reporter was worried about the status of his or her story. In the evenings, I edited and fact-checked news stories and was constantly on-call to cover breaking news.

As a news reporter for The Daily Californian, I covered a wide range of topics including sexual freedom at UC Berkeley, protests and demonstrations, student government, divestment, and legal issues. I spent one semester as a general assignment then worked as a student government beat reporter before I went on to become an editor.

As the business news intern for one of the largest newspapers in the country by circulation, I wrote and reported on full-length stories as well as briefs, with a particular focus on entrepreneurship in the Dallas area. My works published in the print edition, as well as online and were featured on the publication's social media platforms. Dallas is consistently ranked one of the top cities for business, due to low housing and living costs as well as a concentration of corporate headquarters and reputable universities. During my time at the Morning News, I was able to cover the burgeoning entrepreneurial scene while watching some of the larger corporations adjust to economic shifts. I also got the opportunity to help cover county-by-county reactions to the Supreme Court's landmark same-sex marriage decision.During this time, I was privy to the conversations surrounding a large buyout and the company's continued efforts to refocus its priorities on digital journalism.DIGITAL REACH-Wrote 30+ stories and blog posts, gaining more than 76,000 page views total (avg. 2,600 per post)-"Texas named best place to make a living in 2015"​ attracted 22,000 page views & was a top story on the site -Six stories gained over 4,000 page views-Live tweeted from the business section's Twitter account, contributing to the biggest day of growth in the account's history
