I have been making art from waste since 1997. Through my work I ask audiences to reflect on our over-consumption of natural resources and how we can reduce waste through repair, re-use and recycling of materials. I relocated from East London to Nottinghamshire in 2017 and am now based at the Harley Foundation Studios on the Welbeck Estate close to Sherwood Forest. I work with businesses, arts end educational organisations locally and nationally to raise awareness of environmental issues and engage both children and adults in creative upcycling projects. My sculptures are often wildlife-themed or portraits of people. I love the unpredictability of found materials and enjoy the inventiveness necessary to transform them into a sculpture. For instance, the hooked shape of a brake lever suggesting the talon of a vulture, or a respirator becoming the face of a bumblebee. The choice of materials can also be a key part of the story of a piece.
