I'm currently writing an autoethnography, "From GED to PhD: An Outsider's Insights," in which I contextualize public education systems and discuss my own experiences as a first-generation college student.Another research focus is informed by the ways in which certain policies are marketed to shape access to employment, healthcare, and community services. Using an intersectional lens, I'm evaluating obstacles and opportunities that impact social mobility for groups stratified by ability, age, race, ethnicity, residential status, health, sex, gender, sexuality, and/or socioeconomic status.My general areas of interest include media and cultural studies, public sociology, education and pedagogy, sociological and political theory, quantitative and qualitative research methods, intersectionality, environmental sociology, and social movements/change.
