Michelle Chong is a psychotherapist, artist, and curator. As a therapist, she works with adolescents, students, creative professionals, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, couples, and families. She has an MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles. Chong engages postmodern ideas in her clinical work and uses Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused, Strength-Based, and Mindfulness practices. She has been published in the Journal of Narrative Contemporary Therapy and is part of a research team developing new ideas in Narrative Therapy. Chong also serves as Faculty in the Masters Counseling Program, Department of Special Educational, Rehabilitation and Counseling at Cal State University San Bernardino.Chong comes from a background in Art and has an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design. She has over ten years teaching experience in Art, Film, and Photography throughout schools and universities in Los Angeles, as well as teaching English in Berlin, Germany.Chong has exhibited regionally and internationally, including the MexiCali Biennial 2009/2010, The Torrance Art Museum, Koh-i-noor, Copenhagen, Art Laboratory Berlin, and The Institute of Jamais Vu, London. Chong is a grant recipient of The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs Artist-in-Residence, and Creative Capacity Fund’s NextGen Arts Program. She was the Founder and Director of Short House, a curatorial project spanning over a decade, curating shows in Baltimore, Berlin, Copenhagen, Joshua Tree, London, and throughout Los Angeles. She has served as Board Member for the Society for the Activation of Social Space through Art and Sound (SASSAS), Board Member for the Foundation for Art Resources (FAR), and as a Member of Kolonie Wedding in Berlin.
