Teen Librarian
The Teen Librarian position aims to create and sustain a place for young adults to continue their love of reading, as well as connect teens from various backgrounds to one another and create a strong network of teens in and around Redwood City. The Teen Librarian is also responsible for maintaining and sustaining the Teen Center, within the library, which continues to be a fun and safe space for teens and young adults that is neither school nor home, but a third place that is theirs alone.The Teen Librarian is also vital in creating a close connection with local schools to provide programming that compliments the curriculum, local culture, and, most importantly, what teens of Redwood City need to thrive and grow. Through outreach programs with local schools, collections and program management, the Teen Librarian is able to offer services, materials, and programs for teens to learn more about what is available to them and, most importantly, provide support for whatever it is they want to do now and when they leave high school.
Library Teen Educational And Recreation Specialist
The goal of the Teen Center is to build cooperative, supportive, and trusting relationships with the teens in the Redwood City area who visit the Teen Center. We provide a safe space dedicated just to teens from all over the Peninsula area. Currently (2013-Present):- Manage the content development, production, and finalization for higher education (college and trade) learning solutions as either printed textbooks or online digital products (assessment, instructor materials, learning aids like branching and mastery exercises and question sets, and videos) for the disciplines of Psychology and Social Work.- Partner with in-house content developers, product managers, and authors to provide them with the highest standard of service to bring to market products that delight, challenge, and help students worldwide and all ages to succeed in their educational career.- Closely reviewed and approved print and digital product budgets ($10k-$150k). Build and approved production schedules and advised on production workflows.- Evaluate, hire, and manage vendors to oversee the preparation and finalization of content, such as, but not limited to, design, copyediting, proofreading, composition, tagging for online use, and indexing.For the years 2012-2013, additional duties included:- Managed the End-to-End (complete production outsourcing) program for the Psychology, Criminal Justice, Math, Chemistry, and Health/Nutrition products. - Trained and managed vendors and their project managers, as well as trained of in-house staff for how to work with our outside vendors.
