Hi, I'm Michelle, a senior commercial leader with over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and Global Head of Breast Cancer Commercialisation at AstraZeneca. Over the course of my career, I’ve developed extensive expertise in oncology, including launch readiness and execution, and in my current role drive the performance and growth of our strategic portfolio in both developed and emerging markets.As a life-long adventurer, I’ve been fortunate to travel the world and live and work in many countries spanning Asia Pacific, Latin America, Russia, Africa, the Middle East, and now I call the United States home. Combining these travels with volunteering experience in support of low-income communities, children's welfare and environmental sustainability, I’ve gained invaluable insights into the cultures and ecosystems that make each place unique while better appreciating our shared need for health equity and empowerment to live well.As a metastatic breast cancer survivor, making normal, everyday life more visible for other patients going through a similar experience is important to me. I want to lend my voice to advocate for greater health equity for people living with breast cancer, no matter who they are and where they live. Using my personal experience to help inform and inspire my leadership, I'm endlessly curious about how we can be bolder in our thinking and delivery, and I'm proud to be part of a team who shares my ‘why’ in going even further to pursue better care for patients everywhere.Service has played a large role in my life and it's important for me to give back. I owe a great deal to the mentors who helped me grow my career and I love supporting my team to raise their self-confidence and belief in what they can achieve. I'm also a regular volunteer for community and environmental sustainability initiatives such as Heart2Heart Shanghai, The Starlight Children's Foundation, and most recently Martha's Table.I have a soft spot for off-the-beaten-path travelling as well as returning to long-time favourite destinations - such as India, Colombia and the Greek Islands - where I can experience life from different perspectives. While at home, my puppy Hendricks is keeping me active, providing plenty of opportunities for long walks and play. Here on Linkedln, I’ll be talking about breast cancer survivorship, health equity, female leadership, talent development, and my personal journey with volunteering and sustainability.
